Former Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation President, David Aidney laid to rest

The former President of the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation and Trustee of the Suva Royal Yacht Club, David Aidney was laid to rest today.

Aidney who was battling cancer for some time passed away in New Zealand on the 11th of last month.

He was 66 years old.

Aidney was instrumental in the launch and startup of Leadership Fiji and through Williams and Gosling where he was owner and the Managing Director.

He was also the President of the Fiji Australia Business Council in 2016.

Leadership Fiji Board Chairperson William Parkinson says as a speaker and a mentor in their program, Aidney was always there to provide them with guidance and support when they needed it.

Parkinson says Aidney presented an example of the kind of leader that they want to see emerge in our country. He says Aidney was passionate about Fiji and the community.

Former Fiji Times Limited General Manager and Publisher, Hank Arts who knew Aidney for over 25 years says Fiji is not the same without him.

Arts says for all his life, Aidney has helped and mentored people around him. He says Aidney was his go to person for 2 years when he was facing charges in court.

Arts adds Aidney’s office became his sanctuary whenever he needed a break from the pressure and Aidney was always there for him.
