The founder of TicketMax, George Fong has received $30,000 under the Young Entrepreneurship Scheme agreement through the Ministry of Trade to fund his mobile app development.

TicketMax is the first and only 100 percent local event ticketing platform designed to produce tickets for various events and accept online payments.

Fong says he came up with the concept because there were ticketing issues in Fiji.

The 34-year-old says his online website was registered last September and launched in February this year.

Minister for Trade, Manoa Kamikamica says Fiji is moving towards a digital economy, not just using technology but aiming for progress.

He says they are committed to creating a future that is stronger, fairer and better for everyone.

Kamikamica says they have $2.6 million in grant funding and have already received a total of $4.7 million from 1,450 applicants within four months.

The YES Scheme has funded 14 recipients and invested over $300,000 in the form of grants to young and budding entrepreneurs who have innovative and bankable ideas or projects.

TicketMax has processed and issued over $250,000 in ticket sales and more than 40 successful events and names such as VT1S, Paradise Rootz, InsideOut and Uprising Music Festival.
