The Fiji Water Flying Fijians side is focused on making their tackles count and dominating the collision area to counter Japan’s speed with the ball in hand since they like to play a fast game which they are very good at.

This was highlighted by Flying Fijians coach Mick Byrne who says Japan is a fast team, they do well around the breakdown and like to move around the ground quickly, so Fiji will have to be strong in defence.

Byrne says their first tackle has to be strong and their first up tackles have to be dominant and do the best they can to slow Japan’s fast game around the corner.

He says from their perspective, they know that they carry the ball well too, they are a good physical side and will be using their strengths around those areas which include their scrum, line-out and strong carries.

Byrne says they will be countering Japan’s speed with a little bit of their physicality as well.

The Flying Fijians will take on Japan at 10.05pm this Saturday in Osaka, Japan in the final of the Asahi Super Drya Pacific Nations Cup final.
