As the Fiji Water Flying Fijians turn their focus to the Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup final against Japan this week, coach Mick Byrne says playing 80 minutes rugby continues to be the area they want to improve on.

Byrne says, against the USA last week, they were hanging in there at stages of their game but they regrouped at half time and got on with it which was the pleasing part.

He says they still did not quite get it right in the second half, but they kept trying and the resilience of the team to keep going was pleasing.

He adds it gives them a few good things to look at for this weekend.

Byrne says the challenge for him, as a new head coach, was to continue to grow the team's strengths.

He says he wants to improve on the team’s ability to play 80 minutes at full pace.

Byrne says they are on the way and so far they have been playing well in the second half of their previous matches in this tournament and they are priding themselves on their ability to play that game.

He adds the team’s set piece has been functioning well and they want to continue to build on that.

The Flying Fijians will take on Japan in the PNC final at 10.05pm Saturday in Osaka, Japan.
