Families of five fallen officers of the Fiji Corrections Service

Families of five fallen officers of the Fiji Corrections Service unveiled the newly installed headstones of their loved ones at the Nasinu Cemetery this morning.

They are the families of the late Salase Balenaveikau, Eminoni Waqanivalu, Adi Viniana Wapikai, Vilikesa Guva and Waqadrala Tuitukia.

The emotional occasion saw the families gathered with the Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service, Commander Francis Kean and his Senior Officers to commemorate and acknowledge the service and contribution of their fallen personnel.

Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent Apakuki Qura says they hope that this will be a fitting farewell gift to the families from the Fiji Corrections Service.

He says they hope that these initiatives by the FCS will help these families cherish their resting places and give them some sense of pride and longing during every visit to the Nasinu Cemetery.

Speaking on behalf of the families, Marama Guva, the spouse of the late Vilikesa Guva says the occasion was unexpected for all of them as now they can see how much the FCS cares about its fallen men and women.

Guva says today is a special day for them to remember their husbands and wives.

The headstones were designed, built and erected by the engineers of the Fiji Corrections Service.
