Nine Fijians who are currently working in Australia under the Pacific Labour Scheme have helped the Singleton Bulls rugby team win the Mick ‘Whale’ Curry Sevens tournament in New South Wales.

Singleton fans jumped in excitement as their team claimed a 28-14 victory over a tough Hamilton side.

The Singleton Bulls team was also boosted by the inclusion of Mosese Tuiwainikai, as their new assistant coach. Australian High Commissioner to Fiji, John Feakes says it is great to see the Fijian players making an impact in the community and playing the game they love as well as learning new skills and earning an income through the Pacific Labour Scheme.

Fijian workers are highly valued by Australian employers, who are facing critical labour shortages in the agricultural industry as a result of COVID-19 and Australia has opened its borders to 350 Fijian workers who have departed Fiji in the last three months.
