The Fijian Drua are setting their target as one of the final eight teams in next year’s Super Rugby Pacific competition that will kick off on 18th February.

Fijian Drua Interim Chief Executive Brian Thorburn says with the depth of players on the islands, being part of the final eight teams is possible next year.

He says it is an outcome that could knock an Australian side out of the playoffs.

Speaking to Stuff.co.nz, Thorburn says a goal he thinks they should aspire to is reaching the final eight teams and at the moment they do not want to set a goal that can not be reached.

He adds he doesn’t for a moment suggest that they will be competing for the final, but he would like to think that they would target being in the top eight.

Earlier this week, the Fijian Drua named their first five signings including Bay of Plenty player Onisi Ratave, Olympian Napolioni Bolaca, Simione Kuruvoli, Tevita Ikanivere and Nemani Nagusa.
