Fiji waits for certification before contact tracing app is launched

Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says they are waiting to get certification from both the Apple and Google Play stores for Fiji’s contact tracing app.

Sayed-Khaiyum says they have received certification from one of the play stores.

Sayed-Khaiyum also says he has held discussions with the New Zealand High Commissioner to Fiji in respect of what is happening in New Zealand and what they can do to move the travel bubble agenda forward.

He says as it has been said previously, Australia and New Zealand governments are looking at opening a Trans-Tasman bubble first.

Meanwhile, Australian High Commissioner to Fiji, John Feakes says that Fiji is very well placed to join the travel bubble once protocols have been established with New Zealand.

Feakes says he hopes once that is done with New Zealand they are able to quickly bring Fiji.
