Fiji will be part of Australia’s new e-visa streamline pilot program project which will require close coordination and collaborative effort from both countries, particularly in the area of software and application service.

This was announced in the Australian Parliament and in response, Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the program will make the visa experience better for travellers.

During a bilateral meeting with Australia's Minister for Home Affairs and Cyber Security Clare O'Neil at Parliament House in Canberra, Rabuka acknowledged Australia's partnership in the areas of border, cyber security and defence.

Rabuka says the new Fiji-Australia Memorandum of Understanding on Cyber Security Cooperation will provide the necessary framework for the two countries to work together to address emerging threats.

He says while this initiative requires a level of coordination and re-alignment, it does provide a more streamlined, application service and therefore, benefits our people-to-people relations.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the longstanding relations between Fiji and Australia and looks forward to further increasing our engagements through the Vuvale Partnership.

O'Neil thanked Rabuka for the opportunity to meet, saying Australia looks forward to working with Fiji in strengthening national cyber security initiatives and fortifying our industries' infrastructure and people from cyber attacks, among other important things.
