Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica says Fiji is committed to deepening its relations and comprehensive strategic partnership with China.

While speaking at the reception to welcome Guangzhou City to Fiji, Kamikamica says the nation will continue to explore more opportunities for corporation with Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City in areas of trade, tourism, green development, high tech industries, medical services and agriculture.

Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Zhou Jian says Guangzhou City has assisted Fiji in so many ways such as the recent visit of Professor Chen Weirong from Guangzhou Sun Yat-sen University and her medical team for the fourth time to carry out the "Bright Journey", which helps more than 60 patients cure their eye diseases through surgery.

He adds next month, Guangzhou will also donate a batch of solar street lights to Fiji’s 13 cities and towns, including Suva, Lautoka, Savusavu and others to illuminate the way home for people walking at night.

He says under the leadership of the coalition government, the Fijian people are striving for national development and prosperity as well.

He further says Guangzhou and Fiji should maintain the momentum of exchanges at all levels, jointly draw up blueprints for development and further cooperation.
