We need to practice good relationship for peace and prosperity for the future.

This has been highlighted by the Malaysia High Commissioner to Fiji, Nor Azam Mohd Idrus during the 67th National Day and 61st Malaysia Day celebration at his residence in Suva, where he says that Malaysia is actively pursuing opportunities and joining fellow nations that seek to create a new paradigm of development, one that is more inclusive, equitable, sustainable and resilient.

Idrus says it is worth noting that Malaysia consistently ranks among Fiji's top ten trading partners and this reflects the strength and stability of our bilateral trade relations.

He says the ties between Fiji and Malaysia go back to the 1950s during the Malayan Emergency where 1,600 Fijians showcased their remarkable bravery and their exceptional service formed the rock-solid foundation that cemented the unbreakable bond between Fiji and Malaysia.

Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Fiji, Lenora Qereqeretabua says in terms of the government and Malaysia's relationship, it's strong, it's healthy, and they are looking to learning and gaining from the development that Malaysia has been able to achieve.

Qereqeretabua says the government is looking forward to the opening of the High Commission in Kuala Lumpur and is going to be the focal point of our trade.
