In a bid to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Fiji Taekwondo Association will be sending athletes to a World Taekwondo-funded Solomon Island Taekwondo Training Camp to prepare athletes for this historic opportunity.

Fiji Taekwondo Association President Nimesh Narayan says this is a big boost for the team as they try to create history and secure a spot in the Olympics.

Narayan says they will be having another trial in April to select their athletes to participate in the qualifiers in the Solomon Islands, but for now, their preparation is on track.

He says they do face some drawbacks in their preparations but they are grateful to the World Taekwondo for their support in funding this camp trip that will definitely help the athletes.

Team Fiji Taekwondo Coach Sanghyun Ra says the team is hoping to get a lot of positives out of this camp as they prepare for the qualifiers.

Ra says they are looking forward to meeting with athletes from other countries who will be part of the camp as well, and learn as many new tactics as they can from them.

He says this camp allows young players to expose themselves and get them ready for the qualifiers in April.

He adds the team will want to improve from their performance at the recent Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands where the team bagged 3 silver and 3 bronze at the tournament.

Ra says this is a really good chance for the team to make history by qualifying for the Olympic Games in Paris and they are lucky to have got this opportunity.

The team will be leaving our shores this Sunday for the camp in the Solomon Islands.
