People will have a chance to give their opinions on the country’s electoral laws as the Fiji Law Reform Commission will begin their public consultation next month.

Electoral Law Reform Commission chairman, former Chief Justice Daniel Fatiaki says the review is about the people and it is important to listen to their contributions.

Fatiaki says they want to get the feedback of the people.

He says this process is not just a ticking the box but representing the people's perspective through the electoral system.

The consultation for electoral laws will be as follows:

Central Division Suva 7th April Korovou and Nausori 8th April Vunidawa 9th April Nasinu 10th April Navua 11th April

West Sigatoka 14th April Lautoka 15th April Ba and Tavua 16th April Rakiraki 17th April Nadi 22nd April

North Taveuni 23rd April Savusavu 24th April Seaqaqa and Labasa 25th April

The Commission has also launched prompts of the consultation which will focus on the current electoral system, counting of votes, voter and candidate qualification, entry into Parliament, women representation, ballot paper, size of Parliament and the electoral system.

These questions will allow people to think about the current electoral system and also come up with other questions that will assist the Commission.
