A number of top soccer players’ applications for transfer in the mid-season window have been rejected by the Fiji Football Association as they have failed to meet the transfer criteria.

Beniamino Mateinaqara, Sairusi Nalaubu, Dave Radrigai, Samuela Drudru, Akuila Mateisuva and Solomon Islander Marlon Tahioa had applied to join Suva while Rahul Naresh applied to join Ba.

Fiji FA CEO Mohammed Yusuf says the players have to meet certain criteria in order to apply for a transfer.

He says these 7 players have failed to meet that criteria.

Yusuf had earlier said that only vaccinated players would be eligible to apply for transfer who would also need to fulfill other conditions as well.

He says the 2nd wave of the COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone and the Fiji FA Players Status Committee has a duty to create a balance ensuring both the players and the clubs are protected.

Yusuf adds those players whose contract have expired or about to expire need to deal with the club first as they may have looked after the players welfare and pursue an extension to their contract.

Yusuf says players need to show goodwill as they have continued to receive help during these tough times.

He adds it is only fair that the players need to repay the clubs for their help by continuing to provide playing service.

Meanwhile, Rewa utility Anish Khem has applied to join Suva which is yet to be approved.

Rusiate Matarerega and Epeli Saukuru have both applied to join Nadroga.

Atonio Tuivuna has applied to join Lautoka.
