Fiji Airports is ramping up its Nadi International Airport operations in expectation and anticipation of the reopening of our borders.

Fiji Airports Acting CEO, Isei Tudreu says as an airport it is encouraging to see airlines taking bookings for a Fiji holiday in December. Tudreu says they are proud to have a team that is fully vaccinated as they enter this significant phase in their airport recovery.

He says the transition will be from handling cargo and repatriation flights for over a year, to safely handling passenger flights.

Tudreu says their team is on the ground planning and working to ensure the highest COVID-19 standards are maintained. He says their airline partners Fiji Airways, Qantas and Virgin Australia have started taking passenger bookings for December.

Tudreu says they are working with them to ensure a seamless and safe airport experience when borders reopen.

Fiji Airports Chairman, Geoffrey Shaw says the past eighteen months’ challenges, driven by the global pandemic, have crippled both the aviation and tourism industries worldwide.

Shaw says Nadi International Airport operations continue to evolve as we look forward to the re-opening of our international borders and welcoming back our visitors for the first time since March 2020.

He says they have and continue, to engage with the Ministry of Health and their partners being Fiji Airways, Tourism Fiji and tourism stakeholders generally.

Nadi International Airport is accredited by Airports Council International and has been awarded its Airport Health Accreditation.

Shaw says this milestone and internationally accepted accreditation, confirms Nadi International Airport as a safe and desirable travel destination. Shaw also confirms Nadi International Airport will continue to maintain COVID-19 safety measures such as mandatory wearing of face masks, physical distancing, hand sanitiser stations available throughout the terminal, rigorous sanitising and disinfecting, downloading and the use of the careFIJI app, health screening on arrival and departure and medical personnel on standby on the ground to assist.
