Family members in agony and hopes justice will be served

The family members of two men who are currently unconscious at the CWM Hospital in Suva following their involvement in a brutal brawl that occurred in Suva last night are seeking justice from the Authorities.

A concerned relative who wanted to remain anonymous says the two men left their home to attend the club's rugby league awards night at the Vine Yard Palace, which was funded by the village's overseas base players.

He says they did not expect their family members to be admitted to hospital in critical condition after watching videos of them getting beaten up like animals on social media.

He says the players wanted to help a fellow teammate who was in trouble, and in the process, they were all beaten up by the bouncers.

The concerned relative says the bouncers should not take matters into their own hands, and violence should never be an option, especially if people are too drunk to be controlled.

He hopes good sense will prevail and justice will be served to victims of this incident.

Meanwhile, a team of Police officers from the Central Division is rounding up everyone involved in a brawl.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACPO) Livai Driu says he has been briefed on the matter, and an investigation is currently underway.

ACP Driu says they are questioning the staff, who were on duty last night from the nightclubs along that road.

He says Police Officers were at the scene and had transported those injured to hospital.

He adds that a few people are expected to be brought in today for questioning.
