The Fiji Rugby Union CEO John O'Connor has confirmed they will ensure that all COVID-19 related restrictions are adhered to when the Skipper Cup kicks off next week.

Speaking at the launch today, O'Connor says they plan to check temperatures at the gate and ensure that those who come to watch the games have the careFiji app.

O'Connor says this is the first time the Skipper Cup will be played for two rounds on a home and away basis in collaboration with the Farebrother Trophy Challenge.

O'Connor says this will provide double incentive for victory and further excitement for teams and fans to enjoy the spectacle of the matches.

He says whilst the return of rugby is a welcome privilege for teams, it is critical that everyone adheres to COVID-19 related restrictions.

O'Connor says these new formats uphold both the tournament conditions and return to rugby protocols that are now in place.

The Skipper Cup match and Farebrother Sullivan Trophy Challenge between Suva and Nadroga will be held next Saturday at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka at 3pm.

In other matches next Saturday, Naitasiri will face Lautoka at Ratu Cakobau Park, Yasawa will play Nadi at Churchill Park, while Namosi will face Tailevu at Thompson Park at 3pm.
