Fiji Revenue and Customs Service CEO, Mark Dixon has resigned, and this will take effect on the 31st of this month.

The FRCS Board says Dixon will return to Australia earlier than expected to be with his family.

While accepting the resignation, the Chairman Malakai Naiyaga says the Board fully understands the predicament that Dixon has been in and respects the decision that he has taken.

Naiyaga says Dixon joined at one of the most challenging times for FRCS and he transitioned the organization well and delivered many significant improvements to the service and culture of FRCS during his tenure.

He says they are all grateful for his strong leadership through a challenging period of transformational change, post COVID.

Naiyaga says Dixon has been instrumental in ensuring that the Ministry of Finance is well supported on the completion of the recently announced Fiji Government 2023/24 budget.

The Chairman further states that the board will now work with the CEO, and his executive team, to ensure that a seamless transition in leadership takes place.

They will immediately commence the search for a replacement CEO and they are optimistic that the role will be filled in the near future.

Dixon says it has been a privilege to serve Fiji and the FRCS team over the last 18 months.

He says whilst some will no doubt be disappointed with his departure; he hopes most will acknowledge the hugely positive contribution he has made, from a culture and leadership perspective, in turning around this critical government department and rebuilding the relationships with key stakeholders and taxpayers.

Dixon says FRCS is now a service (no longer an authority), and it is set up for success in line with the new Board of Directors, new Strategic Plan, new Compliance Improvement Strategy, a capable young leadership team and some amazingly talented and loyal staff.

The FRCS Chairman says an announcement will be made prior to 31st July 2023 on the details of the FRCS leadership transition arrangements that will be in place during the period prior to the appointment of Dixon’s replacement.
