The Fiji National University will embark on engineering projects in the areas of finance, health, automation of transportation and maritime systems, tsunami alert systems and automatic flood monitoring systems through a Memorandum of Understanding with iMGINE Engineering & Technologies PTE Limited.

FNU’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr William May says the collaboration underpinned the University’s key strategic plan objectives of providing education for employability, research with real-world impact and an enriching student experience.

He says they are continuously ensuring their programmes are focused, practical, and industry relevant and this allows their students to be workforce-ready and able to contribute to the development of their communities.

Dr May says these collaborative projects could address real-world issues faced by Fiji and its communities.

He says as a nation on the forefront of experiencing the effects of climate change, it is imperative that their students, staff, and industry partners work together on viable and sustainable solutions.

iMGINE Engineering & Technologies PTE Limited Board Director, Lorraine Foster says the MOU highlighted the organisation’s key objectives of identifying and realising meaningful projects that improved livelihoods.

Foster says with this collaboration, they hope the students will use their innovative ideas to create and design as well.
