Of the 574 students graduating from Fiji National University, 392 are women.

This was highlighted by the Coordinator of the Fiji Women's Crisis Centre, Shamima Ali, during her speech during the graduation at the Vodafone Arena this morning.

She says these numbers show that more women are stepping into fields such as agriculture, business, and medicine—areas that have traditionally been dominated by men.

Ali says while this progress gives hope to other women and girls, the wide gender gap in the workforce still needs to be acknowledged.

She says the playing field is not yet level, and that women and young girls need more opportunities.

She is also urging men to support women in leadership.

Meanwhile, FNU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba, reflected on the learning journey of the students and says that today is a day for them to celebrate and feel proud.

She says this moment is a true reflection of the students' commitment to learning, their resilience through challenges, and their determination to succeed.

Professor Nabobo-Baba says learning is a lifelong journey, and that the world is waiting for the knowledge, passion, and contributions of the graduates.

The event saw the graduation of students from the College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies, the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, and the College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
