The Fiji National University’s Ba campus conducted its orientation this week and is geared up to offer a diverse selection of technical and vocational, education, and training programmes for the first Semester and Quarter this year.

FNU says the Ba Campus hosts a variety of programmes from three of FNU’s colleges, catering to the diverse needs of students, industries, and backgrounds in the surrounding areas of Ba, Tavua, Vatukoula and Rakiraki.

They say the three Colleges are the College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies, the College of Technology and Technical Vocational Education and Training and more recently, the College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry while College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forests has begun offering the Diploma in Forestry (Level 5) and Certificate of Agriculture (Level 3) at Ba Campus.

Speaking during the Orientation, Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Learning and Teaching, Dr Jimaima Lako expressed optimism for the impact these programmes will have on the students who have chosen FNU to realise their career paths.

While acknowledging students for choosing FNU, she says it is encouraging to note that many talented students and hard-working individuals from farming backgrounds will benefit from the newly introduced and continuing programmes under the three Colleges.

Dr Lako says their FNU Ba campus is purposefully driven to cater to students living in Ba, Tavua, Vatukoula and Rakiraki.

She says in line with this, they specifically offer programmes that fall under the three colleges of CETVET, CBHTS, and CAFF.

Head of Campus, Niraj Dharmendra says FNU is committed to placing students at the heart of its mission.

He says FNU puts the student at the center of everything it does; and their experiences at FNU’s Ba Campus will ensure that it is important to each and every member of staff who works there.

Dharmendra says the students have the opportunity to learn new things, acquire new knowledge, develop new skills, and enhance personal attributes in profound ways that will equip them for the rest of their life.

18-year-old Praveen Prakash, who is enrolled in the Certificate in Joinery and Cabinet Making (Level 3) programme, attended the orientation and shared that FNU programmes aligned to his field of interest.

He says he wants to become a good joiner, and FNU offers the relevant programmes for this.
