The Fiji National Rugby League has re-introduced the FNRL State of Origin and the first game will be held this week at the ANZ Stadium.

FNRL Acting CEO Don Natabe says after more than 10 years, they are re-introducing the origin series this year.

He says the origin series which was formerly known as East versus West competition began in 1994 and later died out in 1998 when the Super League Competition was introduced.

Natabe says the format for this year will be a tri-series competition where the first game will be held this Saturday at the ANZ Stadium, the second origin match will be on the 17th of October at Churchill Park and the final match will be on the 21st of November at Churchill Park.

He adds for this competition, they have resurrected the Western Maroon State Rugby League and the Eastern Blues State Rugby League.

The Acting CEO says the Origin competition will now become the elite competition of the sport of rugby league in the country.

The Western Maroons will take on the Eastern Blues at 4.30pm Saturday at the ANZ Stadium.

Tickets are $10 for grandstand, $5 for embankment and $2 for children Under 12.
