FMF Foods Limited is making a bold move into Fiji’s tea market with the launch of FMF Finest Premium Ceylon Tea, aiming to provide high-quality tea at a price everyday Fijians can afford.

In an interview with fijivillage News, FMF Foods Limited CEO, Sanjay Punja says the company has introduced tea bags in packs of 25 and 200, with loose tea arriving by the end of April.

He says this tea is 100 percent Ceylon tea, sourced from Sri Lanka and is among the most premium varieties.

He says the loose tea will be packed in refillable bags instead of boxes for convenience.

When questioned on why Fijians should choose FMF’s tea over long-established brands, he says FMF has already dominated other markets within a short time and expects the same for tea.

He says the company’s strategy is simple — offering premium quality at the best price.

When asked about challenges in establishing FMF as a key player in the tea industry, Punja says there are none.

He says FMF is a well-established name and the brand itself guarantees quality and affordability.

He assures that FMF will maintain affordability while ensuring consistent quality, as the company takes pride in its name and reputation.

He also confirms that Pacific exports for this tea could start as early as April.

He adds that sales started last week in small shops and independent stores and have now expanded to large supermarket chains and by next week, the tea should be available in most supermarkets.

The CEO says FMF Foods directly employs around 2,000 people and indirectly supports approximately 10,000 jobs.

When asked about future plans, Punja says FMF plans to launch 10 more basic food products in 2025, ensuring quality at lower prices for consumers.

Responding to fijivillage News the Marketing Manager Maria Kumar says FMF has invested over half a million dollars into this initiative, focusing heavily on marketing and promotions to ensure the tea reaches as many households as possible.

While speaking at the launch, Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica says globally, more people are shifting towards healthier drinks, including herbal and organic teas with ingredients like ginger, turmeric and green tea.

He says Fiji should not be left behind in this trend.

Kamikamica says by adding tea to its product range, FMF is strengthening its position as one of Fiji’s leading food brands, creating more jobs and boosting the country’s export potential.

The Deputy Prime Minister says FMF’s strong distribution network would allow this new tea range to go beyond Fiji’s borders, strengthening trade ties with Pacific neighbors.

He says FMF is making sure that people across the country can enjoy premium tea without stretching their budgets.
