Fiji Medical Association President Dr Alipate Vakamocea says they extend their sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the Ministry of Civil Service for their decision to reverse the changes under Circular 14/2024. Dr Vakamocea says the restoration of overtime compensation for their allied health professionals ensures that vital diagnostic and pharmacy services will remain available around the clock, enabling their medical teams to provide timely, accurate, and life-saving care.

He says they commend the government for the wisdom and responsiveness it has shown in recognizing and swiftly correcting its decision on overtime policy.

The FMA President says this reflects their commitment to effective governance and prioritizing the well-being of the Fijian people.

He commends the Ministries of Health and Civil Service for listening to the concerns of healthcare providers and reaffirming their dedication to a safe, efficient, and patient-centred healthcare system.

Dr Vakamocea adds they remain steadfast in their shared mission to uphold the highest standards of healthcare for all Fijians.
