FICAC has received an official complaint from the Secretary-General to Parliament Viniana Namosimalua about certain members of parliament allegedly breaching eligibility requirements for travel and accommodation allowances.

A FICAC spokesperson confirms they have received the complaint but cannot divulge any further information at this point.

No details have been revealed about which parliamentarians allegedly breached the eligibility requirements which is guided by the Parliamentary Remunerations Act.

In response to questions by Fijivillage, the Secretary-General to Parliament Viniana Namosimalua says the role of the Secretary-General is to ensure the efficient, effective and economical management of Parliament.

She says in undertaking this role it is prudent that they ensure the relevant Acts and guidelines guiding the works of Parliament are followed by all its stakeholders.

Namosimalua further said as the matter is with FICAC, her office will make no further comment on the matter.
