The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission and the Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji are focusing on promoting sustainable practices and enhancing consumer awareness to be aligned with environmental, social, and governance goals this Diwali.

In a joint statement they say FCCC and the Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji have started to release regular messages that encourage actions such as reducing waste, saving energy and water, shopping ethically, promoting practices that are environmentally friendly, and ensuring that their platform promotes messages on the importance of sustainability.

FCCC CEO, Joel Abraham says this collaboration is a reflection of their commitment to fostering an inclusive, ethical, and environmentally friendly marketplace for Fijians.

He says in particular, they aim to address the cultural and religious needs of consumers during this significant time, ensuring that Diwali is celebrated sustainably.

Sabha National President Dhirendra Nand says this collaboration underlines the commitment of both organisations to environmental, social, and governance goals and is an opportunity for them to raise awareness on Sustainable Development Goals and inspire the community towards a sustainable future.

The Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji emphasised the importance of leveraging this celebration to showcase dedication to environmental stewardship, and the cultivation of sustainable practices apart from spiritual reflection.

Nand says the aim is to inspire and encourage positive transformation that extends well beyond the celebration of Diwali, advocating for sustainability and conscientious and responsible consumption at all times.

They say FCCC is committed to upholding the religious rights and fair treatment of all consumers, ensuring that Fiji remains a vibrant and multicultural nation.

The FCCC and the Sabha say to make this a time of positive impact and mindful consumption and adds that by taking small steps together, they can contribute to the larger goals of sustainability and fairness in the society.
