Esther Cakaunivere and Zainab Rasheeda of Fiji rewarded for their outstanding achievements

Cakaunivere and Rasheeda received the Head of School's award for the Most Outstanding First-Year Students and $1,000 cash prize.

The University of the South Pacific’s School of Accounting, Finance and Economics (SAFE) hosted an awards ceremony to honour the remarkable achievements of 23 of its first-year students in 2021.

Nine male and fourteen female students who achieved a Grade Point Average of 4.0 and above in their first year of study, were awarded certificates, including a student at the Vanuatu Campus.

Digicel Fiji Regional Chief Executive Officer Shally Jannif was the Chief Guest at the ceremony.

Jannif says it was her duty to provide the awardees with encouragement and wisdom to help them navigate the rest of thier student journey.

Acting Head of SAFE, Dr Nacanieli Rika welcomed the guests and awardees at the event and encouraged students to demonstrate humility in success and accept others success.

He challenged pupils to think about what they wanted to achieve and how they could utilise their intelligence, ability, and skills to serve others.

Esther, a Bachelor of Commerce student in Accounting and Economics, credited her achievement to the almighty God, her family and her father.

Rasheeda, a Bachelor of Commerce student in Professional Accounting expressed her delight and appreciated her parents support.
