“Equality must become embedded as a societal norm, where Fiji cannot function without them, on equal footing, unless they are at the table”

This has been stressed by the General Secretary of the National Federation Party Seni Nabou who says this year, women all over the world are putting out the pledge that they will and must commit to #BreakTheBias.

She says they will also work hard to #BreakTheBias especially for the next generation of women, coming behind them.

Nabou says the world and our nation is still in pain after so much dislocation from the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns, inflation, unemployment, global supply chain issues, economic downturns, high import costs of fuel, spiking poverty rates and unnecessary aggression in Eastern Europe but it does not lessen their drive as women to insist that they must double-up their efforts to level the playing field.

Nabou says last year, the NFP had pledged to the parliamentary standing committee receiving submissions on the electoral law amendments to actively advocate for temporary special measures and reserve quotas in Parliament to uphold a 30% target of women representation as was pledged by Fiji all the way back in 1995.

She says their resolve to #BreakTheBias has not changed and they remain committed to this goal.
