A trainer with Brighterminds Alpha Program in India says with the changes taking place in our modern world, the practice of memorization is fading away, and many people are relying on their phones to store information instead of engaging their cognitive capability.

The organization conducted training for Early Childhood educators in Fiji and students on how students can use their cognitive abilities to detect colours, numbers, and reading messages on phones with the use of blindfolds equipment.

Trainer, Sudeepa Akam told fijivillage News this opportunity provided learning cognitive development skills, which will help students improve their cognitive abilities.

Akam says this learning space caters to children ranging from 5 to 15 years and she emphasised that these age groups have highly adaptable brains, and utilizing this window of opportunity can significantly enhance their cognitive development.

She says one of the effects of adverse technology that we are using is causing the deterioration and depletion of our attention spans.

She adds when our attention spans decrease, our self-efficacy also diminishes, and the focus of their organisation is to offer a revolution aimed at enhancing individuals' focus levels and improving their attention spans for extended periods.

Meanwhile, 76 Early Childhood Educators at the USP Lautoka Campus and teachers in Suva with 25 students have undergone the program for the four-day workshop.

She adds that for learning to be successful, teachers must initially convey joy in the learning space and ensure that students remain calm and focused to take the learning opportunity.
