The main aim for a new song ‘Duavata Viti’ is to encourage people to put aside their differences and work together so we can beat the COVID crisis and it also pays tribute to the frontliners battling to stop the spread of COVID-19.

This is according to song writer and singer, Timothy Ulacake.

Ulacake who is a music teacher by profession says the lyrics of the song are very personal to him, as he and his family had to self-isolate for 29 days.

Ulacake says as a song writer, when they write songs and if they are not connected with what they are writing, they will find the song empty and shallow.

He says he has also lost 2 family members to COVID-19 and he has a friend who lost his son to COVID.

Ulacake adds the conception of the song started from an inter faith denomination zoom prayer session for the front-liners.

He says he was asked to sing during the interfaith session, but he told them that he would rather write a song for the frontliners and the people of Fiji.

Ulacake further says they decided to use the children in the song as well because their voices are very powerful.

The song also features Quinton Tikotikoca, Kat Waqa, Phil Dakei and the Ulacake and Toganivalu Kids. You can download the song on Spotify.
