Following serious concerns raised by many drivers about government vehicles that have been seen speeding and driving dangerously along Queen’s Highway to reach the Great Council of Chiefs meeting venue at Yatu Lau Resort in Pacific Harbour, Police Director Traffic SSP Mitieli Divuana says members of the public can give them the vehicle numbers that are driving dangerously, the time and the place.

He says they will deal with them accordingly.

Police say their officers are on the road to monitor the drivers along Queen’s Highway.

According to the concerned drivers who contacted fijivillage News, the government vehicles are racing up and down the highway.

One driver expressed disgust at the number of government Land Cruisers, Prados, vans, and other vehicles that are speeding toward Pacific Harbour.

Drivers say these vehicles are travelling at speeds of upto 150 kilometres per hour in the 80 kilometres per hour zone.

They say these people are driving like maniacs.

They say that some of the government vehicles are behaving as if traffic rules do not apply to them, overtaking on double lines and halfway into another lane.

The drivers stress that there is no need to drive so fast and are questioning the reason for such behaviour.
