Proactive steps are being taken by Police and government to ensure the safety of students and athletes during the Coca-Cola Games next week as the Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration Pio Tikoduadua stresses that police dogs will be at the Games to ensure the safety of children from drugs.

With drugs being found in schools and students arrested for being in possession of drugs in recent months, concerns continue to be raised regarding the safety and security of children when attending big sporting activities.

Tikoduadua stresses the Coca-Cola Games is there for children’s development.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu stresses that student safety and security are paramount, and he is warning any person coming to the games to sell drugs or to take advantage of students should think twice.

He says their teams will be providing security during the Games and they will also visit areas where athletes will be camping to provide advice and safety tips.

ACP Driu says they are surging up their operations in anticipation of the high number of people turning up for the Games next week.

He says no one is above the law.

The Coca-Cola Games will be held from the next Thursday to Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium.
