Do you want to continue living in poverty, or do you want to break out of the cycle?

This was the message from SODELPA MP, Lynda Tabuya as she was speaking to the members of the Solo Moms Project on International Women's Day today.

Tabuya has questioned the women whether they want to live where they are or they want to move out of the surrounding that is holding them back.

Tabuya has also challenged them to educate their children and not let them drop out of school at any cost.

Tabuya says she is the testament that education is the medium that can break the cycle of poverty and believes that parents need to emphasize the importance of education to their children.

She says the amount of young offenders that we see these days are the ones that no longer go to school or no longer in a place where authorities can be there to monitor them.

Tabuya has also called on the leaders of the country to be more responsible in not just about fighting racism but also helping us to celebrate our diversity.

She says the government is trying its best to tackle racism but at the same, it appears that we are trying to demonize what our diversity is and believes that there needs to be more balanced.

Tabuya says as a person who has faced racial discrimination growing up in one of the prominent schools in Suva, she does not want anyone else to go through what she had gone through.
