Labasa players celebrate

The Labasa Football Association has decided to continue paying all its players' full allowance during this period provided they are uploading videos of their individual training program on their Viber group.

President, Rayaz Khan says this will continue for the next few weeks and if the current situation extends for a long period of time, then they will consider reducing the allowance for those players who are civil servants or those that have full-time work.

The Ba Football Association has decided to pay 50% training allowance to its players during this period as the majority of players and their families are dependent on soccer for their livelihood.

President, Raynal Kumar says they are giving their players $75 a week, which is half the amount of what they were getting as training allowance.

He says apart from a few players who are police officers and one working in a bank, most of their players are currently at home.

Kumar says they have asked the players to use the money wisely and spend on basic necessities for their families.

He says they will also be looking at other ways of assisting their players.

We have also spoken to Nadroga Football Association who say they are looking at ways to support their players.

President, Mohammed Ali says they do not have any sponsorship and were only relying on gate takings to pay their players.

He says they have provided some assistance to the players.

Meanwhile, Fiji FA's CEO, Mohammed Yusuf says they will first have to do a survey to see how many players have been affected.

He says their Finance Committee will have a virtual meeting soon.
