Swire Shipping Fijian Drua captain Meli Derenalagi says they will continue to work hard to remain competitive in Super Rugby Pacific after recording their first win in the competition last night.

The Drua fought hard to record a 31-26 win over the Rebels.

Derenalagi says scoring before halftime in the match was critical and the halftime message from the coach was a ripper.

Coach Mick Byrne says it is a historic moment for the team. He says they have been training well and it has always been about getting used to the physical nature of Super Rugby.

The Drua’s tries were scored by Onisi Ratave, Vilive Miramira and Apisalome Vota.

Fly-half Teti Tela kicked the conversion that sealed the win.

In other Super Rugby matches, the Crusaders beat Moana Pasifika 33-12 and the Reds beat Western Force 29-16.

The Hurricanes will meet the Highlanders at 6.05 tonight and the Brumbies will take on the Waratahs at 8.45 tonight. Meanwhile, the Fijiana Drua will meet the Rebels at 5.30pm today in Melbourne in their opening match of the Super W competition.
