The Suva High Court will make a ruling next week on whether the man who allegedly robbed Energy Fiji Limited last year is fit to take plea.

Autiko Nabunobuno allegedly robbed $7,600 cash from the EFL office in Suva on 16th April last year.

The man was allegedly armed with a piece of timber and smashed the glass of the EFL Head office, forcefully entered the cashier section and took the money.

He is charged with one count of aggravated robbery.

Defence lawyer, Timoci Varinava says psychiatric evaluation by Saint Giles Medical Superintendent Doctor Kiran Gaikwad concluded that Nabunobuno is unfit to take plea or stand trial as he is mentally ill and suffers from schizophrenia.

He further says Nabunobuno acted under the influence of the illness.

Varinava says they seek ruling from the court that Nabunobuno be admitted to the Saint Giles Hospital for 6 to 8 weeks and to be released after relevant assessment are completed.

DPP lawyer, Monisha Naidu has not objected to the affidavit however she says the man should be released to the remand centre and not into the community.

High Court Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar will deliver his ruling on the 6th of May.
