The 27 year old man who was found guilty for the murder of a visiting Fijian national from Canada, Narend Chand in February 2023, appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court today charged with the alleged murder of Afroz Khan whose body was found in Tailevu in December last year.

Edward Nand is accused of murdering Khan between November 27th and December 12th last year.

Nand is accused of striking Afroz Khan multiple times with a wheel spanner before throwing him into Waisere River in Tailevu.

Prosecutor Sitiveni Baleitaveuni says Nand allegedly committed the crime along with two others.

Khan was last seen travelling from Nadi to Suva for a business trip, and his family had claimed that Khan was kidnapped.

In the Narend Chand murder trial, it was heard in court that Edward Nand used his former girlfriend without her knowledge to obtain financial gains from Chand.

The court was also told that Nand spoke to Chand on several occasions in a female voice.

Chand was later badly beaten up and thrown under a bridge when he came to Fiji from Canada.

The court heard that Nand was also sending nude photos of his girlfriend to Chand without her knowledge.

Nand and his accomplice, Salimoni Lagicere will be sentenced for Chand’s murder this Friday.
