Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says they believe that 2013 Constitution review is essential to reflect the voices and aspirations of the people.

While speaking during his Right of Reply to President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu’s opening address in Parliament, Rabuka says Opposition MP Faiyaz Koya had raised in Parliament that Fiji has had four constitutions since independence where he played a role in the making of two.

The Prime Minister adds they hope to amend the fourth one to be the People's Republic of Fiji Constitution.

He says they are the voices of the people, and it is their responsibility to deal with that Constitution.

Rabuka also challenged Members of Parliament to approach the issues facing our people on a bilateral platform, as their role as the people's representatives is to ensure that people’s voices are heard.

He says the President’s word serves as a reminder to each of them as their collective duty to uphold the principles of democracy, good governance, and inclusivity.

He further says it reminds them that they are leaders in this nation.

The Prime Minister says as a government, they will continue to develop and deliver policies that prioritize unity, good governance, economic stability, sustainable development, and national security.

Rabuka adds they are introducing policies such as VAT-free items to ease the burden of the cost of living on the people, and they believe that no one has been left behind
