Serious concerns continue to be raised about people driving and moving around in their areas during curfew hours.

A number of people have raised concerns with us that they can also see drunkards moving around on the road between 11pm and 4am.

They are asking if Police can increase their patrols.

There are also serious concerns about the break-ins during curfew hours.

Last Saturday night, there was an alleged attempted break-in at a shop in Wainivula Road in Caubati where people also threatened neighbours.

Police are yet to confirm if any suspects have been arrested in this case.

When asked about what they are doing to target these people, Chief Operations Officer ACP Abdul Khan says they cannot be everywhere all the time so they urge people to contact their Divisional Command Centres if they see people breaching curfew restrictions.

ACP Khan says they have a team available to immediately respond to these types of calls.

He says they have not reduced their number of checkpoints and patrols during curfew hours and to ensure they cover more areas, they are also setting up snap checkpoints.

ACP Khan says while they have not seen an increase in break-ins and robberies, they know there will be some people who will be targeting certain areas during curfew hours.

He says they have mobile patrol teams to address this issue.

According to statistics released by Police, there have been about 44 cases this year where people were arrested for offences like robbery and drunk driving during curfew hours.

If you see anyone breaching the curfew restrictions, you can call the Southern Division Command Centre on 9905529, the Eastern Division Command Centre 9905563, Northern Division Command Centre on 9905722 and the Western Division Command Centre on 9905457.
