Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho and the former Commissioner to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Unaisi Vuniwaqa.

Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho has personally thanked the former Commissioner to the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) Unaisi Vuniwaqa for proudly representing Fiji and the Fiji Police Force during her tenure as the head of the largest UN peacekeeping mission.

The former UNMISS Commissioner and former Fiji Senior Superintendent of Police called on the Commissioner of Police and presented a traditional sevusevu in acknowledgment of the support rendered by the Fijian Government and the Fiji Police Force in backing her appointment as the UNMISS Commissioner.

Vuniwaqa says her ability to rise to the rank of UNMISS Commissioner was only possible through the backing of the Fijian Government and the Office of the Commissioner of Police.

She says she would continue to give back to the organization as a show of appreciation for the support given to her throughout her 35-year policing career.

Commissioner Qiliho says the organisation was indebted to Vuniwaqa for creating and leaving a legacy with the United Nations that will inspire members of the Fiji Police Force.

He adds Vuniwaqa’s achievements has opened doors and will challenge other Fijian officers to apply for opportunities under the UN banner and he will support every effort made.

Qiliho says the doors for the Fiji Police remain open to Vuniwaqa and conveyed the organisation’s well-wishes for her future endeavors.
