Fiji College of General Practitioners President, Doctor Ram Raju says the facebook video message by a Lautoka general practitioner on COVID-19 vaccines is irresponsible and is made from evidence that has been misconstrued to support conspiracy theories and myths.

Doctor Raju says they will be investigating the case of the doctor for possible disciplinary action internally and with the Fiji Medical Council as she may have not conducted herself in an ethical and professional manner.

Doctor Raju says any doctor who has gone on the record against the only proven defence against COVID-19, which is vaccination, is purporting falsehood.

He says it is a time for all our health care workers to unite and educate the public about the truth.

COVID19-fake-and-Health

Doctor Raju says for one doctor to go on the record against vaccination is her own belief and is not backed by science or evidence based medicine and is not the belief of the rest of the private practitioners.

He says the College of General Practitioners is fully behind the vaccination programme rolled out by the Ministry of Health and they support their efforts.

Doctor Raju says at the moment, it is one of the only methods which can give you immunity and save you from the severe side effects of COVID-19.

He says getting the COVID-19 virus can kill you or give you long term lung or organ damage and make you very ill.

Doctor Raju says getting COVID is not a joke and these conspiracy theories need to be laid to rest.

He says there are side effects to vaccination but these are mild compared to the side effects of getting COVID-19.

The Fiji College of General Practitioners President says by vaccinating, you are protecting yourself, your family and the population of Fiji.

Doctor Raju says they are asking every eligible Fijian to come forward and get vaccinated.

When contacted, the Lautoka practitioner says she has contacted the Fiji College of General Practitioners President and will speak to him on the public statements made.

Her facebook video post has been declared as false information and facebook says it has been checked by independent fact checkers.
