Civil Servants deserve to be celebrated and recognised for their contributions and their unwavering commitment towards nation-building as they play a crucial role in maintaining the stability and effectiveness of our government institutions.

This was highlighted by the Prime Minister and Minister for Civil Service Sitiveni Rabuka while launching the 2024 Civil Service Day celebration theme “Celebrating the Contributions of Civil Servants”.

Rabuka says the theme will recognise and honour the vital work carried out by Civil Servants across all levels of Government which will be amplified through a series of events and initiatives throughout the week of the celebration.

He says from teaching our children, safeguarding public health and ensuring our safety in our various villages and communities, the work of civil servants impacts every aspect of our daily lives.

Permanent Secretary for Civil Service Parmesh Chand revealed that the week of the celebration will be marked with various activities including a careers expo, tree-planting activities, clean-up campaign, public lecture and roc market.

He adds that civil servants are the backbone of our society, who work diligently to ensure that essential services are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Chand says their hard work often goes unnoticed, but their impact is felt by every citizen.

This year’s Civil Service Day will be celebrated in the capital city and other major centres around the country on Friday, July 5th.
