The children residing at the Treasure Home in Nadi received an early Fiji Day Celebration as they were hosted by the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Rosy Akbar, to a special afternoon tea.

Akbar told the children that as a nation, Fiji has achieved a lot over the years and the Government is optimistic that with unity among the people of the nation, a lot more can be done.

She says the Government will be taking care of them because they are the key to having a more unified country tomorrow.

She adds it is through instilling understanding and mutual respect from a young age that one can aspire to build a better country like Fiji.

The Minister informed the children that her Ministry, will be working closely with the staff of Treasure Homes in improving activities for children at the homes and promoting the purpose of quality family time and child protection.

Akbar also assured the 14 children residing at Treasure Home that the Government will continue to support the underprivileged children at the Home and around Fiji.

She says we must show the children that we believe in them and continue to encourage them to be the best they can be and to be great leaders of Fiji.

The Minister also handed out gifts to the Home to assist with the daily activities of the management, where she added that this is in line with the Government’s focus on prioritising the prosperity of all Fijians and the protection and well-being of the future generation.
