The application filed by the Fijian Teachers Association for a constitutional redress in the Suva High Court after more than 200 teachers lost their jobs for not getting the COVID-19 vaccine last year, will now be heard on 10th March.

The case which is against the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations and the Attorney General of Fiji was called before Chief Justice Kamal Kumar this morning.

The FTA is represented by Simione Valenitabua while Devanesh Sharma is representing the Attorney General's Chambers.

Chief Justice Kumar has given both parties more time to file their submissions as both have failed to do so when time was given earlier.

Sharma argued in court that they were waiting for Valenitabua to file his submissions so that they could file their response.

Under the OHS Regulations announced by the Prime Minister in July last year, workers cannot enter the workplace if they have not received the vaccine by 1st August 2021.

The case will be called on 10th March.
