While a number of people may be away from their families this Raksha Bandhan due to COVID-19, this has not stopped brothers and sisters around the country from showing their love and affection towards each other.

Raksha Bandhan this year has been very different for Fijians as a number of people have been away from their families for almost five months now.

Gifts and Treats which is a small business based in Nasinu is specializing in delivering Rakhi and sweets packs to siblings that cannot meet due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

Jasmine Bibi who started the business a month ago says she has received a number of orders from people who are living in the Western Division and cannot travel to celebrate Raksha Bandhan this year with their loved ones.

Bibi says she has also received orders from some people who are currently in home isolation.

People can choose the Rakhi design from the comfort of their homes along with a customized hamper pack which is then delivered.

Bibi says some packs have even been delivered across borders.

Raksha Bandhan is marked by the tying of a rakhi, or holy thread by a sister on the wrist of her brother.

The brother in return offers a gift to his sister and vows to protect and look after her in every circumstance of life.
