Burst mains fixed on Robertson Road

The Water Authority of Fiji says while restoration works from WAF teams with regard to the burst mains have been completed on Robertson Road in Suva, the area is still cordoned off as final reinstatement works have to be carried out by a contractor of the Fiji Roads Authority.

We are currently checking with the FRA as no reinstatement works are being carried out today at the site and some drivers are asking when these works will finish as it is in the middle of Suva City and many people are getting affected.

According to WAF, the site is still awaiting reinstatement of the storm water culvert that was removed to access the damaged water mains located below it.

WAF says this reinstatement work requires a great deal of planning, as other underground services from EFL, WAF and TFL are present near the site, which makes this a time-consuming process.

It says as always, the safety of members of the public is of utmost importance and this is why the area of work is cordoned off.

WAF adds Robertson Road, Anand Street, Nina Street, Stewart Street and Saint Fort Street are all active FRA work sites.

The Authority is recommending the travelling public to plan their trips accordingly to account for any delays that may take place as a result of these important works.

According to WAF, repair works to the burst mains that were affecting the Suva Market and some residents of Suva City were completed on Wednesday and supply was restored after WAF teams worked through the evening and into the morning.

It says the work that was required to be done was intensive as one of the mains were located on Robertson Road on the Suva bound lane, and the second one was located at the corner of the island towards Max Value at the Rodwell Road/Robertson Road Junction.
