Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the Build Back Better initiative has proved to be successful as many of the buildings that were rebuilt after Tropical Cyclone Winston has withstood the wrath of Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

The two buildings he commissioned in June in Nabouwalu for the Bua Provincial Council staff withstood the destructive winds at the height of TC Yasa last night.

He says he has also received reports from Koro Island that the schools, homes and government offices built after TC Winston was able to survive the massacre brought on by TC Yasa.

In 2016, after the destruction brought by TC Winston, Bainimarama had announced that government's number one priority was to rebuild Fiji and to build back better - stronger than before.

He had said that they would build public infrastructure and housing to proper standards to withstand cyclones and to save money and the misery TC Winston had caused.
