In a bid to keep the sport of rugby clean and drug free, the organisers of the Brimstone 7s competition have adopted a new policy where players will be tested before the tournament and any player found to be tested positive of illicit drugs, not only the player will be disqualified but the team as a whole.

This was revealed by Brimstone 7s Tournament Director James Vunituraga who says this is just to help keep youths away from taking drugs and playing the sport.

Vunituraga says such local tournaments will guide our youths in making the right decisions when faced with important choices.

He says in other Fiji Bitter 7s tournaments, it will be up to the organisers to decide whether they want to implement this new policy in their tournament laws.

Vunituraga acknowledged the organisers of the Brimstone 7s, the Nakavu Rugby Club, for agreeing to adopt this new policy.

He further says that the Nakavu Rugby Club believes involving school dropouts in the team will open doors to success and enable them to pursue opportunities, not only in rugby but in other sports as well.

The Brimstone 7s will be held this Friday and Saturday at Thompson Park, Navua.
