Borehole project ensures clean and safe water for students in Bua

Students of Ratu Emeri Catholic School in Nadivakarua, Bua now have a convenient water source after more than 40 years of using the creek and river.

The government has commissioned a borehole project for the school.

The Head of School Kiniviliame Naika says since the establishment of the school in 1974, they have been fetching water from the nearby creek and river for consumption at the school.

Naika says during heavy rain and dry seasons it becomes difficult for the school especially for the boarding students and because of the location of the school, water carting is not very timely.

He says the new school borehole will give students a big relief.

While commissioning the borehole project, Permanent Secretary for Lands and Mineral Resources Dr Raijeli Taga says the government is working towards achieving the National target of 100% access to clean and safe drinking water to all Fijians in rural communities by 2030.
