A rivalry that goes back decades between the team that everyone loves to beat (Blues) versus the team that everyone loves to hate (Crusaders) comes alive tomorrow night as the two teams play in the final.

More than 45,000 tickets have been sold for the clash at Eden Park.

The first time that they met in a Super Rugby final was back in 1998. The Crusaders won that 20-13. The Blues finally avenged that loss with a 21-17 victory in the 2003 finals.

Fast forward to 2022 and the Blues are on a 15-game winning streak, also picking up their first win against their South Island rivals since 2014.

The Crusaders have 10 titles while the Blues have 3.

A lot is on the line with both coaches Scott Robertson and Leon McDonald having played together in Crusaders colors during their playing days.

It will also be a battle of the fly-halves to determine who is New Zealand’s best with Beauden Barrett and Richie Mo’unga.

Beauden will also face off against younger brother Scott while the Goodhue twins Jack and Josh, are looking at not only securing the title for their respective teams but also bragging rights at the next family get together.

The Blues host the Crusaders at 7:05 tomorrow night at Eden Park.
